Parking & Transit, a Division of Campus Operations

Visiting Campus

Visitor Center (a.k.a. Admissions)

The Visitor Center is located on the west side of Templin Hall and has a parking lot accessed from 15th St. Visitors may park in this lot (400), avoiding the outer edges on the south end of the lot that are marked as "Red permit required."

Visitors will receive a temporary parking permit from the front desk at the Visitor Center, and should display it on their vehicle for the duration of their visit to campus. These temporary permits are only valid in lot 400.

If a visitor needs to park elsewhere on campus, they should either park in one of the gated garages (at a rate of $1.50 per hour) or contact Parking & Transit to inquire about other temporary permit options.

Junior Days and Senior Days

For Junior Day or Senior Day visits, students should receive a printed QR code that will function to validate parking in the Mississippi St. Parking Garage.

The garage, located just north of the Kansas Memorial Union, can be accessed either from the lower level on Mississippi Street or the top level on Oread Ave.

When entering the garage, visitors should simply press the green button and take the ticket that the machine will print as it raises the gate. This ticket will be needed to exit later, and should be kept away from magnets or cell phones.

To leave, first insert the ticket that was pulled at the entrance and wait for the screen to display the amount due, then scan the QR code validation under the glass panel to the left, (see reference image below).
