Parking & Transit Office

Restrictions

Any student is allowed to bring a car to campus; however, all cars in KU parking lots must have valid permits.  Each student is allowed to purchase only one vehicle permit per year. (A student may buy both a vehicle permit and a moped or motorcycle permit).

Students living in residence halls on campus must purchase the parking permit for the appropriate residence hall lots. Students living off-campus may purchase a yellow student permit. See the permits page for more information.

Residence hall parking lots are restricted 24 hours per day from 7 AM Monday through 5 PM Friday, (they are open on the weekends). Parents wishing to visit campus and park outside residence halls during the week will need to buy a visitor permit. (See our visitor parking section for more details.)

For more detailed information, read the KU Parking Rules and Regulations.
