Medical Needs Permit

A medical permit is a short-term parking permit for KU faculty, staff or students who have a temporary need for closer parking due to a medical condition.

A medical permit costs $23 per week and allows parking in Gold zones, regardless of what type of parking permit you have now.

To obtain a medical parking permit:

1. Have your doctor fax the following information on a prescription pad or letterhead to 785-864-5220:
   1. Your Name
   2. KUID (if a student)
   3. How many weeks you'll need to have closer parking
2. Come into the KU Parking office with a photo ID to complete paperwork and pay

Temporary Accessible Placards

If you need special parking for more than 1-3 weeks, talk to your doctor about obtaining a temporary accessible placard from the state.
